Royals Hold Off Yankees

Alex Gordon's three-run homer helped the Kansas City Royals to a 5-4 win over the Yankees Wednesday.

The Kansas City Royals used a three-run homer from Alex Gordon and a controversial solo shot from Billy Butler to edge the New York Yankees 5-4 to salvage the final game of their three-game series at Kauffman Stadium.
Both home runs came in the Royals four-run fourth.
Replays showed Butler’s ball hitting off the top of the padded green wall and bounce back into the field. After review, the umpires ruled it a home run.
Joakim Soria labored through a 40-pitch ninth inning, loading the bases and giving up a run before striking out Jorge Posada on his 40th birthday.
The win breaks a four-game losing streak and is just the Royals second in ten games.
Mike Moustakas doubled and had three hits.
The Royals host Boston tonight with Jeff Francis pitching. Royals pre-game at 6:35pm on KAYS (1400-AM).
