A runaway car caused some damage in downtown Hays, including damage to an Hays Police Department cruiser.

At around 8:15 Wednesday night, a runaway car collided with a car parked on 13th Street, east of the intersection at main. The car then took out an electrical transformer box on the southwest corner, and also struck an HPD cruiser, causing both cars to run into the HPD garage.

HPD Chief Don Scheibler says the female driver of the car had only minor injuries.

The HPD vehicle was unoccupied at the time.
