The Hays High Indians football team opens their season in Chapman on Friday night. The Indians were 7-2 last year and missed the playoffs on a points tie-breaker. Hays High returns all but one on the offensive line this season and a backfield that all saw time including senior quarterback Austin Unrein who missed the last three and half games of the 2010 season due to a knee injury. The question mark could be on defense where only a few starters return.
Chapman finished 0-9 last year and has a new head coach in Trevor Williams. Williams is a three assistant at Chapman and has previous head coaching experience in Oberlin. Chapman had a rash of injuries through out the year and actually return quite players that would have been starters a year ago.
