Yeverino’s 2 Goals Lifts FHSU Soccer To Win

The Tigers men’s soccer team defeated Newman 3-1 on Sunday (Sept. 11) on the road inWichita,Kan.After falling behind 1-0 in the first half, FHSU scored three second half goals to take the win over the Jets.

Junior Richardo Yeverino tied the game at 60:40, beating the Jets goalkeeper to the left side on a shot from inside the box. At 72:09, FHSU took the lead for the first time in the game.

Diego Cabral scored his first goal of the season, as theAsuncion,Paraguay native’s shot went right of the Newman goalkeeper and into the goal.

Yeverino was not done, scoring off a Newman turnover inside the box. The goal was the second of the game for Yeverino and his team-leading third goal of the season.

Newman scored at 19:49 on a rebound off a corner kick. Chris Vaughn tallied the Jets lone goal.

Ryan Pakiser went 90 minutes in goal for the Tigers, recording his second win of the season. Pakieser totaled six saves, while allowing the one Newman goal.

The win improves the Tigers record to 2-2 on the season. FHSU returns home for a game on Wednesday (Sept. 14) againstDoaneCollegeat the FHSU Soccer Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. with live stats being provided at fhsuathletics.com.
