The Hays High Indian’s football team will host Garden City Friday night for homecoming at Lewis Field Stadium. Hays is 3-0 and 1-0 in the Western Athletic Conference after a 39-12 win over Liberal last week. The Indians boast WAC leading rusher David Cardinal and have four of the top ten rushers in the conference and are averaging 415 yards per game on the ground. Hays High is looking for their third consecutive 4-0 under head coach Ryan Cornelson who picked up career win number 70 last week.

Garden City is 1-2 on the season and 0-1 in conference after losing on a touchdown pass with less than a minute remaining in Great Bend. Garden City has had three very different results in their first three games, losing to Scott City 30-3 to open the season, beating Woodard, OK 35-0 and then the 14-7 loss to Great Bend. Garden City had the ball in Panther territory 9 of 13 possessions. Garden City is allowing only 164 yards per game, which top the league and also have five defenders in the top ten under the tackles for loss category.

This will be the 51st meeting between the two teams. Garden City leads the series 26-24, though Hays High has won the last the last three meetings and five of the last six.
