Fixed Wing Plane Crashes Shortly After Takeoff In Manhattan

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, a pilot took off in a 2003 Rans S7 Courier Fixed Wing and the engine died 300 feet from runway.

The pilot was reportedly unable to restart the engine and the plane crash in the ditch off of K-57.

The pilot, 69-year-old Maurice D Sharp, and a 10-year-old passenger were transported to Manhattan Mercy Health Center with injuries.
