Two separate accidents Saturday sent two people to the hospital. The first was Saturday morning just before nine at 4th and Ober in Russell. According to the Highway Patrol, an eastbound pickup failed to yield and hit a northbound truck. The driver of the truck was not injured, but the pickup driver, 78-year-old Henry Duryee, of Dorrance, was taken to Russell Regional Hospital.
The second accident occurred just afternoon about six miles east of WaKeeney on I-70. A strong wind gust blew a semi onto the south shoulder. The driver overcorrected and sent the semi into a sideways skid. It overturned onto the driver’s side. The driver was not injured. The passenger was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, Nebraska.
