A Kansas Board of Regents Teacher Education Competitive Grant that could be worth as much as $800,000 over three years has been awarded to Fort Hays State University.
The grant, which must be renewed yearly, is nearly $150,000 for the first year. The project is to create an undergraduate endorsement for the English for Speakers of Other Languages program.
The grant enabled the education department to hire two additional faculty members to develop and help teach the anticipated 250 students admitted to the program by the end of the three-year period.
