The Fort Hays State Tigers allowed a late goal with less than two minutes left in the game, falling 2-1 to No. 12 ranked Central Missouri on Thursday night (Oct. 13) at the FHSU Soccer Stadium.

The Jennies scored first in the 29th minute on an Alyssa Rhodes header off a pass from Carly Stanley. The score remained 1-0 in favor of UCM at the end of the first 45 minutes.

The Tigers notched the equalizer in the 66th minute on a header by junior Cindy Benitez, her fourth goal of the season. Benitez knocked in a rebound off a shot from Jamie Babyak, who was credited with the assist on the goal.

After a back-and-forth physical end game, the contest looked like it was headed to overtime; however, the visiting Jennies tallied the game winner at 88:34. Becky Lackey scored on a long pass from Alyssa Rhodes for the 2-1 final score.

The Tigers were just the fourth team this season to score a goal on the No. 12 UCM team. FHSU dropped to 4-8-1 on the season and 1-5 in MIAA play.

Fort Hays now travels to Northwest Missouri State on Saturday (Oct. 15) at 11 a.m. in Maryville, Mo.
