FHSU Women’s Soccer Falls At Northwest Missouri State

The Fort Hays State women’s soccer team lost, 2-1, to Northwest Missouri State on Saturday afternoon (Oct. 15) on the road in Maryville, Mo. The loss is the third straight by the identity score of 2-1, dropping the Tigers to 4-9-1 on the season and 1-6 in the MIAA.

The host Bearcats took the lead early, scoring at 11:44 on a goal by Emilee Davison. Tammie Eiberger’s pass set up the Northwest goal for the 1-0 score.

The game went nearly an hour and 10 minutes before the next goal. The host Bearcats doubled their lead to 2-0, scoring a goal at 81:25 on a shot by Amanda Spade with Kelly Obley picking up the assist.

The Tigers tried to claw their way back into the game late as leading scorer Joanne Glynn cut the deficit in half to 2-1 at 83:56. The goal was Glynn’s seventh goal on the season.

Goalkeeper Kelsey Grey started and went all 90 minutes in net. The freshman made 11 saves and allowed the two goals.

Fort Hays returns to action on Thursday (Oct. 20) at Dallas Baptist at 2 p.m. in Dallas, Texas. The road test is the Tigers final road game of the season, as FHSU finishes the season with three straight home games.
