After having one of the best matches in her young career Friday night in their win over Missouri Western, Fort Hays State’s Jenna Ulrich has been named the MIAA Hitter of the Week.
The Luray sophomore recorded a career-high 19 kills in the match with just two errors for a .531 hitting percentage. It was the most kills for a FHSU player in a four-set match this year and the highest percentage by a Tiger in a conference match. She also had three blocks in a match, including one solo and two assist.
In the deciding fourth set of the match, Ulrich put down six kills and also had a solo block late in the set to put the Tigers up 21-11.
This is the first MIAA weekly honor for Ulrich and the second this season by a Tiger after Kayla Zoglman was named Specialist of the Week for the week of September 26. This also marks the first time that a Fort Hays State player has been named MIAA Hitter of the Week since the Tigers joined the conference prior to the 2006 season.
