HHS Girls’ Golf Finishes Runner-Up At 5A State Tournament

The Hays High girls golf team has their best showing at a state tournament, finishing second yesterday at 5A state at Smoky Hill Country Club. The Indians shoot a 365 and finish 15 shots behind St. Thomas Aquinas, who wins their fifth straight state crown.

Hays, who finished third at state a year ago, placed four in the top 12 led by Maddie Curry who shot an 88 to finish sixth. Holly Hattan was ninth with a 90, Natalie Bethel 11th with a 93 and Kaycee Beilman 12th with a 94. All four finish All-State.

Russell’s Walker Finishes 2nd At 3-2-1A
Russell’s Katelyn Walker finished second at the 3-2-1A state tournament in Emporia. Walker fired a 95, eight shots behind Silver Lake’s Rebecca Holder. Syracuse won the team title. None of the three TMP-Marian qualifiers finished in the top-20.
