Nearly 1 billion people go to bed hungry every night, and nearly 25,000 people die every day from hunger related issues. To address the issue of world hunger,Fort Hays State University’s Center for Civic Leadership and Forsyth Library will combine resources to support the SWIPE Out initiative as part of a statewide food packaging event.
The Global Leadership Project will host the event on October 29th. Over one hundred volunteers will work from two to four packaging 20,000 meals that will be shipped to the Horn of Africa. The meals have been donated by the charity group, Namana, to the 16 schools in Kansas participating in the program.
