The Hays High Indians knew they were already headed to the state playoffs, but a win would help the Indians in the playoff seedings on senior night. Salina Central did bring the game back with in on posession scoring a touchdown with just :35 seconds left in the first half, but that left enough time for David Cardinal so strike on a 72 yard touchdown run pushing the half time lead to 21-7.
Central again would fight back and make the score 21-14 after a Hays High fumble, but the Indians answered with back to back David Cardinal touchdowns, the second after a Adam Deterding interception. Salina Central tacked on a touchdown late to make the final score 35-21.
Hays High finishes the season 8-1 and 3-0 in districts. Hays also will be sharing the conference title with Garden City and Great Bend as Garden City beat Dodge City 18-15 in double overtime.
