HHS Boys Soccer Drop Epic Match At Great Bend

They were tied after 80 minutes of regulation soccer, two ten-minute overtime periods, two more five-minute overtime periods and two rounds of penalty kicks, but on the third round of penalty kicks, No. 2 seed Great Bend defeats the 8th-seeded Hays High boys soccer to advance out of the second round of the 5A state playoffs.

The Indains raced out to a 2-0 lead on goals from from Kellen Griffin and Jordan Windholz in the 26th and 36th minutes respectively. Great Bend cut the gap in half with a goal 30 seconds later.

The Panthers score the only goal of the second half in the 52nd minute.

Both teams scored three goals in the first round of penalty kicks then four each on the second round.

The teams sent their five original players out fo the third-round which would be decided by the first team to miss. Both scored on their first attempt but Hays missed on their second kick to end the game.

The Indians end their season 8-10.
