A weapons procedure will be added to the USD 489 Administrative Handbook. District attorney Bill Jeter says the procedure does not need to define what constitutes a weapon.

The procedure establishes guidelines that school administrators should follow if a student is found with a weapon on school property or at a school sponsored event. The procedure includes calling the police and the student’s guardian and issuing an emergency suspension.
