
The Fort Hays State Tigers close the first half on a 25-6 run to lead by 16 and go on for a 76-52 victory over Central Christian College Friday night at Gross Coliseum. Fort Hays State used a 40-8 erasing a 3-point first half lead and building a 27-point lead with 15 1/2 minutes to play. Tyrone Phillips led three in double-figures with a game-high 24 points. Karron McKenzie scored 13 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Matt Simmons added 10 points and 11 rebounds as the Tigers improve to 3-0.
The Fort Hays State Lady Tigers jumped out to an 18-2 lead then outscored Central Christian 35-2 to start the second half and win 105-24. FHSU (4-0) held Central Christian to two field goals in the second half. Kate Edwards led four in double-figures with 18 points. Kimber Wieser scored 14, Traci Keyser 13 and Brooke Arp 12. 6’4″ freshman Kate Lehman scored eight and grabbed eight rebounds and added five blocks.
