Based on a legal order included in the settlement agreement for the Hays Wind project, the Ellis County Commission is not at this time going to pursue a deadline for construction to begin under the conditional use permit.

Commissioner Glenn Diehl says one issue was the lack of communication from Iberdrola on the status of the wind farm. They have submitted a letter to the county stating they still intend to construct the wind farm, but are waiting on an energy contract.

The commission is going to ask Iberdrola for updates through out the year and then revisit the issue next November.
