Stuffed Animal Saves The Day For Family Traveling Over Holiday

(AP) – A Kansas City couple say a stuffed animal possibly saved their lives after a rock thrown from an Interstate overpass crashed through their windshield.

The Smiths and their teenage children were coming home from a Thanksgiving celebration in Weston, Missouri, when a rock came through the windshield near an overpass on Interstate 635.

Mr. Smith was in the passenger seat when the rock came through and hit a stuffed dog on the dashboard, instead of him. Mrs. Smith says everyone in the SUV was covered in glass when she pulled over to the side and called 911. A firefighter who responded to the scene said he thought he was going to find someone dead because of the size of the hole in the windshield.
