The Fort Hays State Tigers shoot 68-percent and hit 11-of-12 free throws in the second half and win their conference opener 78-65 over Lincoln Wednesday night in Jefferson City, Mo.
The Tigers never trailed in the game, scoring the first six and led by as many at 15 in the second half.
Karron McKenzie and Matt Simmons both record double-doubles. McKenzie sets a career-high with 26 points and 12 rebounds and led the Tigers with six assists. Simmons tied a career-high with 14 points and also had 12 rebounds and dished out five assists.
It’s the Tigers third straight win in a conference road opener as they improve to 7-0.
