The TMP-Marian Lady Monarchs us good free throw shooting down the stretch to holf off DeSoto 47-37 in their opener at the Hays City Shootout Thursday night.

The Monarchs led by three at the half and outscored the Wildcats 24-17 in the second and hit and hit 10 of 12 free throw attempts in the fourth quarter.

Rachel Jacobs led the Monarchs with a game-high 23 and was 11-for-11 at the line. Jenna Lang added 15.

The Lady Monarchs will now play Newton in the semifinals Friday at 4pm at the Hays High Gym. The Railers rolled past Great Bend 72-26 in their opener.
