Winners Announced For This Year’s FrostFest Parade

The results are in and The Downtown Hays Development Corporation and FrostFest Parade Committee have  announced the 2011 FrostFest Parade winners:

Business Category – First Place was Double Z’s ATV’s & Trailers/Z-Man’s Upholstery, Second Place was Nex-Tech and Third place was the Mall at Hays.
School Category – First Place was North Central Kansas Technical College.
Other Category – First Place was Hays Public Library, Second Place was Good Hope 4-H and Third Place was Donna Fleischacker.

There were no entries entered into the Religious or Animal Categories.

Best of Show was Hays Public Library and the very close vote for the People’s Choice First Place winner was North Central Kansas Technical College, followed closely behind with the Hays Public Library and Double Z’s ATV’s & Trailers.

Parade entries were judged on use of theme, lighting and creativity. This was the second year for the People’s Choice Award, which was voted on by the parade goers via text message.

This was the 11th year of the illuminated parade and this year’s parade theme, Swept up in Snowflakes, was submitted by Elise Suarez, who was also honored as this year’s Grand Marshall.

The parade will be aired on Eagle Community TV December 6th through the 9th daily at 4:00 and 8:00 p.m. Watch Hays Channel 14 for updates to the airing schedule or check it out on HaysPost.com.

The theme for next year’s parade is Candy Cane Lane. The 2012 theme was submitted by Michelle Callahan’s 3rd Grade Class during the annual FrostFest Theme Contest held every fall. They will serve as next year’s Grand Marshall.

You can still join the Downtown Hays Development Corporation the next three Thursday’s from 5-7pm for December Thursday Carriage Rides in historic downtown Hays.
