
The Fort Hays State Tigers couldn’t hold on to a 3-point lead with under one minute to play, losing at No. 10 Pittsburg State 64-55 in overtime.
Drew Roberts hit a 3-pointer with 26 seconds left in regulation to tie the game at 54. The Lady Tigers had a chance to retake the lead, but Crista Bechard missed two free throws with :08 to play. Pitt them missed a 3-pointer at the horn.
FHSU (14-3, 6-3 MIAA) used an 8-0 run to go up 52-49 with a little over two minutes to play.
The Gorillas, who rebound from their first loss of the season Wednesday against No. 17 Washburn, outscore the Tigers 10-1 in the overtime period. FHSU missed all eight of their field goal attempts in the extra period.
Fort Hays State fell behind 6-0, taking 3:01 to score and trailed 23-21 at the half. They never led, tying the game at 21 on a Kaiameka Brown jumper with 2:16 to play but didn’t score the rest of the half.
The Tigers were led by freshman Kate Lehman who had a game high 15 points and 15 rebounds. Crista Bechard added 12.
