Stamps Will Cost More Beginning this Weekend

Beginning Sunday, the price of a stamp will increase one cent to 45 cents. The US Postal Service has announced that the rates for some other services also will be adjusted, such as mailing postcards and packages. Hays Postmaster Tom Lippert says the increase was not instituted to address the deficit facing the Postal Service. It is based on inflation calculated through the Consumer Price Index.

Forever stamps purchased at the current price can be used after Sunday. For more information on the adjustments, Lippert suggests calling your local post office or checking the USPS website.
