Lady Tigers Fall In Overtime To Lincoln

The Lincoln Blue Tigers scored the final four points of regulation to force overtime then hit two free throws with 03.5 seconds to take the lead and defeat the Fort Hays State Lady Tigers 76-75 Saturday afternoon at Gross Coliseum.

The Lady Tigers used a 10-0 run to grab the lead with just over nine minutes to play and led by as many as seven in the second half.

Free throw shooting doomed FHSU (14-5, 6-5 MIAA). The Lady Tigers were 5-for-6 in the first half but just 2-for-10 in the second half and overtime. Lincoln hit all seven free throw attempts in the second half and both in the overtime.

The Lady Tigers trailed most of the first half and were down 11 with 2:28 to play, but close the half on a 12-3 run to trail 41-39 at the break. Crista Bechard got a rebound and drove the length of the floor and followed in her missed shot at the horn to close the gap to two.

Kate Edwards led the Lady Tigers with a career-high 33 points. Kate Lehman added 21 with seven rebounds and eight blocked shots.
