The Kansas Day Program will be held on Sunday, January 29, 2012 at 2 p.m. The program will be held at the Trego County Historical Society Museum in WaKeeney.
Don Rowlison of Studley will be the speaker for the program. The program will cover homesteading in Kansas. Don will put into picture details about the land surveys, the methods of obtaining land, and the types of homesteading. He will highlight information about the land office in WaKeeney and the government trying to get the area filled the progressive settlers.
Rowlison has worked for the Kansas State Historical Society for 33 years as a project archeologist and site administrator for the Cottonwood Ranch. He now substitute teachs in the winter months and in the summer he works at the Cottonwood Ranch, which is run by the Friends of Cottonwood.
The Kansas Day celebration is sponsored by the Trego County Arts Council and the Trego County Historical Society.
