Downtown Great Bend is getting a new movie theater. Golden Belt Entertainment Group plans to build a state-of-the-art six-screen complex.
The complex will be located at the southeast corner of Lakin & Kansas, the current site for Bank of the West. By mid-summer, the bank will be moved to their new location at the far south edge of the property, and demolition will begin on their old building.
The complex will include a large concessions area, six theaters with stadium seating and a community room.
Co-owner Chad Somers says they hope the new complex will be open by the spring or early summer of 2013. The total investment for the project is approximately $2.9 million.
