La Crosse and Victoria Split Games

The La Crosse Leopards and the Victoria Knights split a pair of games tonight in La Crosse. In the girls game the Victoria Lady Knights jumped out to a 6-0 lead and used a 9-2 lead to open the first quarter to take a 15-6 lead after one. In the second quarter the Knights lead grew to 10 at 21-11 before leading 29-14 at halftime. Into the third quarter the La Crosse Leopards cut the lead to 10 points a couple of time in the second half but they never get closer and fell 53-41.

Victoria Kristin Huser fought off early foul trouble to turn in a team-high 17 points. La Crosse’s Haily Gilbert had 18. La Crosse falls to 5-9 with Victoria improved to 10-4.

In the boys game the Victoria Knights jumped out to a 2-0 lead and led 5-4 early in the first quarter but that would be the last time they would lead in the game. The La Crosse Leopards used to 15-0 run to lead 25-10 after the first quarter and they would never look back. The Leopards held the Knights to just four points in the second quarter to lead 43-14 at halftime. The Knights did put together a little bit of a run in the fourth quarter to close the gap but La Crosse was just to much on the Knight earning the 67-41 win.

Kip Keeley led all scorers with a season-high 22 points for La Crosse and Dalton Dreiling hit three straight three-pointers in the third quarter and finished with a season-high 12 points.

The La Crosse Leopards improved to 7-7 with the win while the Knights fall to 7-7 on the season. The Leopards will host Macksville on Tuesday and the Knights are off until the host Macksville next Friday.
