The Fort Hays State Lady Tigers used a 14-2 first half run to build a 15-point lead and end their three-game losing streak with a 65-42 win over Northwest Missouri State Saturday afternoon in Maryville.

The Lady Tigers led virtually the entire way. Northwest pulled within seven late in the first half but Crista Bechard hit one of the Tigers’s six first half 3-pointers late in the half to give the Tigers a 10-point lead at the break and by as many as 23 in the second half.

FHSU shot just 38-percent but was 10-for-29 from 3-point range and outrebounded the Bearcats 55-38.

Fort Hays had five players score in double-figures led by Kate Lehman and Kimber Weiser who both scored 12. Crista Bechard scored 11 with Kate Edwards and Kaiameka Brown both adding 10. Lehman and Edwards both recorded double-doubles. Lehman grabbed 10 rebounds and Edwards 11. Lehman also had five blocked shots and within three of tying the Tigers single season record.

The win pushes FHSU to 15-5 and 7-5 in the conference. Northwest falls to 4-16 and 2-11. The Lady Tigers play at Missouri Western Monday night.
