This was the first time the three-member team of  Ann Gottschalk, Valerie Rule, and Erin Farber had ever entered the Humane Society of the High Plains Soup ‘R Bowl.

They’d all attended the fundraiser in prior years.  This year, the 15th  annual Soup ‘R Bowl,  they decided to work together and enter a Green Bean Dumpling soup.

Sunday afternoon at the Ellis County Fairgrounds, the crowd voted their soup the best among 13 entries from local celebrity chefs, and the women accepted the first-place “Golden Ladle” award from the HSHP Board with surprise and big smiles.

The chefs say their version of the popular German soup is a conglomeration of recipes from each of their families, all mixed together and “served with love.”
