
Missouri Western shot 72-percent in the second half and used a 39-16 run to build a 19-point lead and defeat the Fort Hays State Lady Tigers 90-78 Monday night in St. Joseph.
Fort Hays State raced out to an early seven-point lead and were up one at the half, but the Griffons score the first five of the second half to take the lead for good.
The Tigers forced 21 Griffon turnovers but only managed 17 points off those turnovers.
Kate Lehman led four Tigers in double-figures with 20 points, eight rebounds and five assists. Kate Lehman added 16 points and nine boards, Melissa Nelson came off the bench to add 10 points, all in the second half.
The Lady Tigers have lost four of their last five and fall to 15-6 and 7-6 in the MIAA. Missouri Western improves to 6-13 and 4-10 in the conference.
