KDOT Crews Help Save a Man’s Life

A Scott County man’s life was saved by a team that included EMS, physicians and K-DOT. 44-year-old Chad Griffith had a heart attack the night of the December blizzard and needed to get to Hays Medical Center. In that weather it was not possible to fly, and so Scott County’s EMS Director contacted KDOT Area Superintendent Jerry Glassman.

Four snow plows cleared 120 miles from Scott City to Hays. The trip took five and a half hours. Griffith, who had 99 percent blockage in an artery, was treated at HaysMed and returned home before Christmas. He says everybody went above and beyond to save his life.
