Strong First Half Lifts FHSU Women Past Central Missouri

The Fort Hays State used two first half runs to build a 12-point halftime lead then went on a 13-0 second half run to blow the game open and defeat Central Missouri 68-51 Saturday afternoon at Gross Coliseum.

The Lady Tigers defense was the story, holding the Jennies to their worst shooting game of the season (28.5%) and just 4-for-14 from 3-point range.

Crista Bechard led three Tiger’s in double-figures with 16 points, Kate Edwards added 14 along with 11 rebounds while Kate Lehman scored 13 and blocked three shots.

The victory improves the Tigers to 17-7 and 9-7 in the MIAA. Central drops to 17-7 and 11-6 in the MIAA.
