The Kansas Department of Transportation is performing field tests along a section of US 281 in Russell County.

The two-week geotechnical study is being performed ahead of the design of an improvement that will be part of the state’s T-Works transportation program.

The geotechnical study will occur along the corridor beginning at the north city limits of Russell, and continuing north toK-18 Highway.

During the study, sections of the highway may be reduced to one-lane.
