A bill to eliminate exemptions to the state’s concealed carry law has been voted out of a House committee. Law enforcement agencies and representatives from some of the entities that currently are exempt from the law have testified against the bill. Fort Hays State University President Edward Hammond objects to opening the state’s university campuses to concealed guns.
A similar proposal was approved by the House two years ago, but didn’t pass the Senate. Senate President Steve Morris calls the bill a bad idea.
