Windy Today With A Chance For Showers

A strong upper level storm system will exit the Rockies and move east across the western high plains today.

At the surface, a strong surface low in northeastern Colorado will move east across northern Kansas throughout the day. Winds will become extremely strong out of the northwest by this afternoon as the surface low pushes further east. A High Wind Warning and Wind Advisory have been issued as a result.

Additionally, rain with a mix of snow is possible this afternoon across central and west central Kansas. However, little accumulation is expected. High temperatures can be expected up into the 40s and 50s by mid day with temperatures beginning to fall during the afternoon.

Washington’s Birthday: A chance of rain showers before 3pm, then a chance of rain and snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 52. Very windy, with a west wind 17 to 20 mph becoming west between 29 and 32 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Tonight: A 20 percent chance of snow before 10pm. Cloudy during the early evening, then gradual clearing, with a low around 24. Very windy, with a west northwest wind 31 to 34 mph decreasing to between 11 and 14 mph. Winds could gust as high as 45 mph.

Tuesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 57. West wind between 8 and 16 mph.

Tuesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 30. West wind between 7 and 10 mph.

Wednesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 65. West wind between 11 and 15 mph.
