Hunger Awareness Banquet to Raise Funds and Education

Last October, Fort Hays State University students and other volunteers packaged over 20,000 meals that were sent to the Horn of Africa. The group now is raising money for a huge expansion of that SWIPE Out Hunger event.

The Global Leadership Project is hosting a Hunger Awareness Banquet to both raise funds for next fall’s project and to educate those in attendance about the realities of hunger in the world. Student Coordinator Kelly Nuckolls says some attendees will receive a three-course meal and others will get the pre-packaged meals.

The group is working to raise enough funds to be able to package 100,000 meals next October. The banquet and silent auction will be March 2nd at 6:30 at the Robbins Center. RSVP by February 28th by emailing [email protected].
