Plainville Woman Killed By Passing Car After Stepping Out Of Vehicle On U-183

A Plainville woman was killed after stepping out of her vehicle on U183, 5 miles north of I-70, shortly after 7:30PM.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, 66-year-old Dorothy J. Lawver had stepped outside of her vehicle checking the damage after just hitting a deer on the northbound side of U183. A passing vehicle, driven by 20-year-old Amanda Howg of Sylvan Grove, approached the area southbound on U183 and struck Lawver.

Lawver was pronounced dead at the scene. Howg was transported to Hays Medical with possible injuries.
