A project being coordinated and funded by Ellis County, the City of Hays and the Kansas Department of Health and Environment to clean up an old shooting range took another step forward Monday night. The Ellis County Commission approved the bid from Hulcher Services. Commissioner Swede Holmgren says using an outside company rather than county employees is more cost effective.

The base bid to clean up the site is $26,400.
