A eastbound SUV crossed the median on I-70 Monday afternoon and was hit by a westbound semi, killing the SUV’s driver and one passenger.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reports that the driver of the SUV lost control about three miles east of Oakley just before four o’clock. The SUV drove into the path of the semi, and both vehicles came to rest in the north ditch following the collision.

The remaining four passengers in the SUV were taken to Logan County Hospital. All are from Tyler, Texas. The semi driver from Collyer was treated and released.
