Law enforcement in Hays and Ellis County along with the Secret Service are investigating the distribution of counterfeit money. One-hundred, fifty and twenty dollar bills are being manufactured and then passed at local businesses.

Hays Police recently arrested 27-year-old Darin A. Newell of Hays for counterfeiting. Newell also has been charged with drug possession, vehicle burglary and possession of stolen property. He is in the Ellis County Jail in lieu of $75,000 bond.
