
The Fort Hays State women’s golf team leads the way at the MIAA Championships after the first day of competition at Paradise Pointe Golf Complex in Smithville, Mo. Women’s competition was held on “The Posse” course, a par-72 venue. FHSU holds a three-shot lead over Missouri Western heading into Tuesday’s final round.
Jordan Nixon and Kiley Johansen are leading the way for FHSU, each cardingĀ a nine-over round of 81. They are currently tied for third, five strokes back of first day leader Cassie Lowell of Northwest Missouri State, who shot a 76. Natalie Bird of Missouri Western was the only other player under 80 with a 79.
Samantha NeilsenĀ is currently tied for eighth after an 85. Carmen Thompson is one stroke back in a tie for 10th after an 86. Samantha Hobson is tied for 14th after an 89.
Northwest Missouri State is also lurking close to the Tigers in third after a first-day 338, just five strokes back of the lead. Lincoln is the next closest, 15 back after a 348.
Play is set to get underway at 7:30 am on Tuesday.
