Rather than saving money by closing post offices, the U.S. Postal Service has decided to keep the facilities open, but reduce their hours.
In a conference call Friday Senator Jerry Moran said last week’s announcement didn’t address the decision to consolidate the mail processing centers, which has impacted Hays. He does expect more announcements from the USPS.
Meetings will be held in the 362 Kansas communities where the post offices are targeted for reduced hours.
