A ceremony was held Wednesday afternoon to unveil a sign that will designate the intersection of Highway 183 and Interstate 70 in the memory of Chief Warrant Officer 2 Bryan Nichols, who died in Afghanistan in August 2011. The CW2 Bryan J. Nichols Fallen Veterans Memorial Interchange is the result of legislation introduced by 36th District Senator Allen Schmidt.
Two signs were installed along North Vine Street, and Nichols’ friend and fellow service member Christopher Waldschmidt is helping to raise the remaining $10,000 to place two signs along I-70.
Donations for the signs can be sent to the Bryan Nichols Memorial Fund at Midwest Community Bank in Palco or through the Remembering Bryan J. Nichols Facebook page.
