The Kansas Board of Regents this week heard proposals for tuition increases at the state universities. Fort Hays State is requesting the smallest increase of 2.9%, and if approved, would continue to have the lowest tuition. The increase would equal $46.50 per semester.
Emporia and Pittsburg State are each requesting increases over 6%. TheUniversityofKansasis 5.1% and K-State wants to raise tuition 5.5%. Wichita State is seeking a four percent increase.
Fort Hays officials say with these increases, the affordability gap between Fort Hays and the other Regents schools would widen.
The Board of Regents will decide on the tuition proposals next month.
