Very warm temperatures are expected heading toward the weekend.
There will be a chance for thunderstorms on Friday as a warm front lifts northward through the region. An isolated thunderstorm or two with golfball sized hail is also possible Saturday along a dryline. By Sunday, an upper jet will be diving into the region, and bring a better setup for more organized severe weather potential across western Kansas; including the potential for hail larger than golfballs and tornadoes.
In the meantime, a large wildfire in western New Mexico is sending smoke plumes aloft toward the southern and central plains. The skies across southwest Kansas could become partially obscured by smoke over the next couple of days.
