HHS Boys Track Wins Third Straight 5A State Title

Mission accomplished for the Hays High boys track and field team in their quest for a third straight 5A state title. The Indians score 118 points, holding off second place Bishop Carroll who tallied 104.

Junior Adam Deterding brought home two gold medals, winning the high jump (6’6″) on Friday then finishing first in the 110 high hurdles (14:54) on Saturday. He also finished sixth in the triple jump (44′ 7 3/4″).

Cade Sharp also won two golds, finishing first in the discus Friday (161′ 2″) and taking the shot put (54′ 6″) Saturday. The Indians finish 1-2-3 in the shot put, which pushed then over the top for the team title.

The 4×800 meter relay team of Tanner Staab, Josh Brungardt, Ethan Fort and Eric Stumon also brought home a gold medal.
