Plainville, LaCrosse Boys Win State Track Titles

The Plainville boys track and field team scored 53 points and edged Meade by one point to win the 2A state championship Saturday at Cessna Stadium in Wichita. The Cardinals had two individual champs. Dalton Werner won the long jump (22-2) and Jameson Klein the discus (160-7).

LaCrosse won the 1A title with 84 points, easily outdistancing Centralia who tallied 38. The Leopards were led by junior Levi Morss who won the long jump (21-11.25) and finished second in the 200 (22.54) and 400 (50.88) meter runs. Junior Kip Keeley won the javelin (181-11) while the 4×400 relay finished second. Austin Webs and William Storie finished third and fourth respectively in the 300 hurdles.

The Osborne won both the 1A boys 4×100 and 4×400 relays.

The Ellis boys 4×100 relay team of Jared Pfeifer, Riley Hunsiker, Dylan Krause and Jared Herl finished first in class 2A (43.91).

Trego’s Lexi Riedel won the 2A girls’ 200 meters (26:58). She finished second in the 100 meters (12:46) and third in the 400 meters (1:00.85).
