Wheat harvest is officially underway in Russell County.

The first load of wheat was brought to the AGCO elevator in Russell Monday afternoon about 1 o’clock.  Moisture content was 11% with a test weight of 55 pounds per bushel.

Cutting has also started in Ellsworth County.

Harvest is expected to kick into high gear this weekend, but the weather forecast is calling for some much-needed rain.
