A Hays working on a wheat truck died Thursday in an accident in the 800 block of Hopewell Road. The Ellis County Sheriff’s Office said that 27-year-old Jeremy Owen Johnson was changing the rear passenger side tires on a truck loaded with wheat when the truck fell off the jacks.

The Ellis County Sheriff’s Department says the Johnson was pinned under the rear driver side tires. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The accident, which occurred around 3:30 Thursday afternoon, is under investigation.
